Spring is here, and that means that animals (and some people) are humping.
And it’s magpie season.
Well I was swooped by a maggie today.
It’s funny, I was walking to the train station when I looked down, saw a magpie on the ground and thought to myself, “It’s good that the magpies are my friends, I’ve always been nice to them and it is because of this that humans and magpies live in harmony in the township of Walloon”.
A few blocks later, (and a different magpie) I heard “woosh!…peck” and did a complete backflip in an attempt to avoid certain death. I was going to hit the deck but my train was on its way. So the evasive manoeuvre I chose was to fling my pie into the air and run, waving my bottle of drink above my head to try to protect my precious (and awesome blog writing) noggin from any more attacks.
And there were other magpies too. Everywhere I looked, I wasn’t safe.
To the onlookers I bet I looked pretty stupid… running like a scared little girl.
That’s not what upset me though – not public humiliation, what I’m upset about is that the magpies’ nest is RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of my short-cut to the train station. From now on, I’ve got to add about five minutes to my twelve minute walk each day (and I’m usually running late anyway).
Or I can just find a big whacking stick. (Mwuahahaha)
At least it wasn’t one of those mutant plovers, you know, the ones that have the poisonous blades underneath their wings. Don't they? D:
